my fit food is all gone

Posted: February 26th, 2010 | Author: suhshi | Filed under: My Training | 1 Comment »

Yesterday was the last day I had enough food from my fit food to last me. I only had bought 3 days just to try it out. So I’ve been weighing myself every morning and it seems like I lost a total of about 7lbs in the past 3 days on my fit food. I’m pretty amazed how fast I lost weight. I guess my workouts were good just my eating habits weren’t as good.

I’m sooo tempted to just drop the $600 as an investment in my health and take the 21 day challenge. What to do?

Thursday 02.25.10

Thursday we focused mainly on legs and shoulders. I never sweated this much lifting weights. But great workout. I feel happier after I workout. Maybe it’s the sense of accomplishment.

my fit foods is the bomb

Had my full day of my fit food, and I can definitely feel the difference in my metabolism. When I have full 3 meals a day and have high protein snacks in between I feel hungry almost every 3 hours. After breakfast and a snack after 3 hours, I’m way hungry for lunch. The plus side is the food is freaking great. I’ve been really enjoying there food. It’s fresh and you can tell even after you microwave for a minute. Veggies still have that fresh crunch and the chicken breasts are juicy. Plus everything is portioned out and it’s been pretty filling.

If I can loose 5lbs in the next 3 days on my fit foods with all my workouts going on, I’ll enroll in the 21 day challenge for $600 bucks. I think it may be well worth the money. Health is an investment.

Tuesday 02.23.10
Today I focused on biceps and back. I lifted so hard that I was having trouble curling 10lbs near the end of the of the workout. Also back was so tight from lifting it was painful doing the elliptical machine.
30 minutes on elliptical machine.

I got so much work to do, and this workout regimen is really eating up my time and energy. Got to hang in there.

here it goes again

Monday just flew by and another week of working out and training starts again. It’s late and I’m tired. I’ll keep this post brief.

Monday 02.22.10
We focused mainly on the chest and triceps. These long reps are just wearing me out. Next Monday I’ll be maxing out to see how much weight I can actually push.
40 Minute bike station

Also an update is, I purchased 3 days worth of foods from My Fit Foods. It’s a popular chain that’s starting to pop up around town and basically they cater to your diet needs. From breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks. Roughly a meal costs around $7. I had a coupon from groupon ($35 for $15) and bought 3 days worth of meals and snacks for around $55. It’s steep but I hear the food is super good, made with great products, no-preservatives, and low on sodium. All the food is cooked fresh everyday and they’re non-frozen. That means the food will only last up to 4 days in the fridge. Isn’t that amazing?!?! fresh cooked food all ready for you. I guess that is the price you pay for convenience.

what a long ride

Saturday we skipped our usual Conoco Phillips training ride since it was so far and we were getting tired of waking up 4-5 in the morning to drive out of town an hour to ride. So we decided to bike the hershey trail from beltway 8 out to fry rd. and beyond. It was my brother, Daniel, Teresa and her friend Candy. We ended up riding about 42 miles but we kept stopping along the way to wait for the slow-pokes (won’t mention names) and ended up riding from 9am – 1pm. 43 miles is not much but it just took so long than it should have, it really wore me down. Came home and napped for 3 hours cause I was so tired.

Tonight’s workout menu is Chest and Triceps. I feel pretty good, not sore at all.

short game sucks

In a previous post I said that I was working out Tuesday, but I couldn’t. Had to do pre-marital counseling. So I went to the gym yesterday. Here is my workout.

Wednesday 02.18.10
Back and Bicep workout
Tricep workout
30 min bike station

I’m not getting lazy posting exactly what I did, I just don’t remember what the actual work outs are called. Maybe I should start writing down what I do while I’m at the gym.

Tomorrow is my day off, and I’m hitting the golf course at 10am. Can’t wait! I played this past Monday since it was a company holiday (presidents day), so my brother and I ended up playing a round. Haven’t played in 2-3 weeks but I played my best game ever and hit a 100… ok 101 to be exact but I’m saying 100. Maybe tomorrow I can break a 100? Man my short game sucks.

keeps going and going and going

Saturday was one cold ass ride. It started out to be in the low 30′s and stayed in the upper 30′s while we rode our training ride in Hempstead, which is about an hour from Houston. My toes were going soo numb that I had to keep stopping and rubbing them with the fear in mind that they’d get frostbite and fall off.

Here was my workout over the past few days.

Saturday 02.13.10
44 Mile training ride

Monday 02.15.10
I can’t exactly recall everything thing I did so I just highlighted what area of the body we focused on.
Biceps workouts
Chest workouts
Ab machine
30 Minute cardio

Tomorrow will be back and triceps, and maybe throw in some legs. Than more cardio. yay…

trainer kicked my ass

Posted: February 11th, 2010 | Author: suhshi | Filed under: My Training | 1 Comment »

In my previous post, I explained that I had a free session with a professional trainer today. He went through the whole evaluation of my body, and my health, and basically started breaking down what I should be doing, how I should be eating. So here is what I learned…

- I need to work on 3 things. Eating right, cardio, and strength training. More importantly strength training. 1 pound of muscle will burn 50 calories. So more muscle, the more calories you burn. So you’re constantly burning calories day and day out even though you’re not exercising (I knew this…).

- When working out, focus on Anaerobic Exercise. What is Anaerobic Exercise? Here is a definition from Wikipedia: Anaerobic exercise is exercise intense enough to trigger anaerobic metabolism. It is used by athletes in non-endurance sports to promote strength, speed and power and by body builders to build muscle mass. Muscles trained using anaerobic exercise develop differently compared to aerobic exercise, leading to greater performance in short duration, high intensity activities, which last from mere seconds up to about 2 minutes. Any activity after about two minutes will have a large aerobic metabolic component.

To explain what the trainer made me do was 1 thing, lift weights for a specific body part, and instead of resting between sets, you do another workout that compliments what you just did. So if I’m doing squats on a machine with weights, after my set, I would do backward lunges. This really kicks your ass. Lunges are created by the devil. It sucks so bad. Basically, we worked out for about 15-20 minutes, and I was hurting bad. My legs were burning I could barely walk afterward.

My workout today:

Thursday 02.11.10
15 Minutes of Anaerobic Session (focusing on legs) with Trainer
30 Minutes Bike station
3 sets of leg workouts where you pull in our knees together
3 sets of leg workouts where you push your legs apart
3 sets of leg curls
20 crunches (this hurt so bad since I had to use my arms. there still so sore.)

I’m hurting, hurting bad, but I feel so good. Tomorrow is rest day, but Saturday is biking.

i'm hurting

After my Tuesday workout, I’m dying. Yesterday I could barely move my arms. I had trouble using the restroom, and even using my mouse at work. Today, the soreness is setting in and it feels great, but hurts like a mofo.

My friend tells me to drink as much water as I can, so I’ve been throwing down water every chance I get. Strangely, I haven’t had to pee that much.

Today is the day I go in to get my free session with a trainer. I’m canceling the appointment. I feel bad cause I won’t be able to actually do anything to do with lifting, pulling, pushing… anything to do with my arms is game over. But I’m still going into the gym to workout my legs, and do some cardio. So I’m still working out!

training season starts now

MS150 ride is coming up and I’m scared. Less than a 90 days to train enough to get my ass to Houston to Austin, Texas. Also my wedding is fast approaching and I need to start losing some pounds and fast.

So I started a work out regimen with my buddy I’ve known since high school. My goal, lose 35 pounds in 3 months. Can I do it? Who knows, but I will damn sure try. I even got a membership at LA Fitness. So as I take on this journey, I’ll blog about it as much as I can to help me keep motivated and accountable.

Since I started my workout last Friday, here is what I’ve done so far since Friday.

Friday 5th, 2010 (Gym)
30 Minutes of bike station
30 Minutes of elliptical machine
20 x Medicine ball sit ups

Saturday 6th, 2010 (Cycling)
37 Miles cycling (this was tough, jacked up my knee and Achilles. Got to get the bike tuned.)

Tuesday 9th, 2010 (Gym)
I would say this was the day to just shock my body before going into a workout routine.
3 Sets of bench weights
3 Sets of triceps
3 Sets of back
3 Sets of shoulders (shoulders are the worst. hate it.)
3 Sets of leg extension (this has got to be the worst next to shoulders. extremely hate it.)
3 Sets of back extension
3 Sets of bicep pull downs
30 Minutes of bike station
2000 Meter rowing station

Tomorrow is rest day, Thursday I got a free session with a professional trainer. I’m dreading it since I know I’ll be sore that day from the intense workout today. But I feel great, like I accomplished something.

This coming Saturday will be a 41 mile ride in Waller Texas. Dreading this too. It’s going to be in the 30′s. This past weekend ride was cold enough in the 40′s.
