goodbye iphone, hello android

I’ve long adored the awesome phone created by Apple whom I love dearly. But after 2 years of the closed platform that Apple is running with their phones and app store, I’ve jumped ship for a more open platform, Android. So here is why I left the iPhone:
Apple is a big company. They are focused on making money. But to keep making money, they like to keep things closed. And especially with their iTunes and iPods. I think this is smart on their part but sucks for the end user. I want to be able to install whatever program I want on my phone and not be controlled by someone above me. It’s like having a nagging parent always hovering over you telling you what you can do and can’t. It sucks, and they need to stop. We as consumers should have the right to do whatever we please!
Android platform by google is going in the right direction. They give power to the user to take and run with what they created. It’s definitely not as polished as the iPhone or iTunes, but it’s getting there. Android phones will be a force to be noticed in due time.
Apple is slow to really making a good product even better. They do slow incremental updates on all their products. This is a business model to make more money, but I think it sucks to consumers. I want substantial updates when they only release a new model once or twice a year. I don’t care about no stupid compass, or any minor updates. I want better features, a better browser, a better mail app, etc.
Voice dial? WTF? where is it iPhone? This should be a STANDARD IN ALL PHONES for accessibility reasons. I know that the new 3G S iphones have it but that is so stupid I can’t even speak…
So there are my gripes and why I left the iphone. But I have my handful of gripes about the Android phones already. Custom Android ROMS here I come.
